Business Strategy:  What style do the best leaders use? #Leadership

#Leadership. You’ll often see me cite stuff from the Harvard Business School.  Why?  Over the years, I’ve come to trust them.  Their ideas and recommendations are timely, practical, and most important to me, based on real-world research … hard facts not “fuzz.”

So, from the Harvard Business Review, Mar-Apr 2023.  “… Do the best leaders take charge, lead from the front, give orders, and push people to do great work?  Or do they listen to them, empower them, and get out of their way? …”

Their answer:  Both, shifting between the 2 modes as the situation dictates. The best leaders also develop leaders and organizations that can do likewise.

I agree.  That is my experience, in routine day-to-day management … in strategy development and implementation …  and in crises.

Pick the “right” style based on your assessment of both the situation and the team.  Be self-aware of … and guard against automatically picking … your “default style.”  We all have one.
